The Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Biomedical Imaging Development Ltd (CRC BID) was formally established in 2006 and held its inaugural board meeting in June of that year.
CRC BID is one of more than 55 CRCs administered and funded by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) through its CRC Programme.
The CRC Programme was established by the Australian Government in 1990 with the aim of building linkages between scientific researchers and users of research, such as industry. CRC BID is currently among a group of eight CRCs in the field of medical science and technology.
The total CRC budget is approximately $80 million over 7 years, including $21.5 million of federal government funds through the CRC allocation. The CRC commenced operations in May 2006.
CRC BID is an unlisted public company limited by guarantee, incorporated in Australia and based in Melbourne.
