What is a Radiotracer?

A radiotracer is a molecule that contains radioactive material. When a tracer is injected into the body, abnormal cells - such as cancer cells - take up more of the tracer than normal cells. PET detection systems can then take a picture of the tracer in the body, so enabling the identification and spread of abnormal cells. Different tracers are being developed by CRCBID to identify different conditions or diseases.
