Education program
CRCBID's education program aims to foster the growth of Australian expertise in biomedical imaging, and build the nation's capacity to serve the needs of researchers, clinicians and industry people working in this field.
The Education Program broadly runs along two platforms. The first involves supporting undergraduate and professional development activities for people currently working in, training for, or are interested in a career in nuclear medicine.
The second platform relates to creating relationships with educational providers and professional bodies to strengthen and develop the educational opportunities available for nuclear medicine science professionals and students.
Outputs from the education and training program include TAFE and undergraduate science courses, postgraduate research and professional development activities for radiologists and clinicians.
CRCBID offers scholarships to Ph.D students and Honours students to undertake study in the field of radiopharmaceutical and detector research and development. The aim of the scholarships is to produce researchers who are trained to develop and to use biomedical imaging techniques. Post-graduate scholars are invited to apply.
In addition, CRCBID organises seminars and other events on clinical and research issues to allow participants, invited guests and students to share information on biomedical imaging practices and developments.
CRCBID participant organisations, especially Monash University, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and ANSTO—which in their own right are internationally recognised educational providers—are central to the success of the program.
