InMED award modified

The Australian and New Zealand Society for Nuclear Medicine (ANZSNM) has advised that as the InMed Prize was not awarded this year, InMed has offered the prize money as a one off grant in 2010 to support a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) / Medical Radiation Scientist (MRS) in their research in the 2010/2011 period.

The award is sponsored by InMED and will consist of $1000 to assist the winner in their research or for attending a CPD activity of their choice within 12 months of the Award.

To apply for the grant, see the following instructions.

  1. Entries to the grant will be Nuclear Medicine Technologists (NMT) / Medical Radiation Scientists (MRS) employed within the field of Nuclear Medicine and financial member of the ANZSNM for at least 6 months at the time of application.
  2. The applicant must submit a research abstract (up to 300 words) where the work is primarily by the NMT/MRS.
  3. The Award will be judged by a committee convened by the ANZSNM for this purpose, which will consist of representation from the Federal Council and the ANZSNMT.
  4. The winning project must not be one that has been the winning entrant for any other ANZSNM awards within the last 12 months, such as the Mallinkrodt Award, ANSTO Award, etc.
  5. The winner of the Award must publish the research in the ANZ Journal by June 2011, and present it orally at the 41stANZSNM Annual Scientific Meeting in Darwin.
  6. The winning project will not be eligible for the InMed Award in 2011.
  7. The criteria for the judges shall include the following (percentages are maxima):
    1. The value of the project as a contribution to nuclear medicine - 30%
    2. The content of the abstract (accuracy, logic, statistical consideration, originality, etc) - 50%
    3. The presentation of the abstract (clarity, expression, graphical presentation, etc.) - 20%

The judges will have discretion as to whether the Award will be given. The winner will be notified within 4 weeks of the closing date.
