CRCBID Detector team travels to IEEE’s Tennessee conference

Andy Berry, Goran Panjkovic, Marie Ruat and Matt Dimmock from the Monash Centre of Synchrotron Science recently travelled to Knoxville, Tennessee to attend the International Electrical and Electronics Engineers 2010 Joint Nuclear Science Symposium, Medical Imaging Conference and 17th Room Temperature Semiconductor Workshop.

The group was invited to present four posters and an oral presentation to showcase the work to date on CRCBID’s Pixelated Emission Detector for RadiOisotopes (PEDRO) and Hybrid Pixel Detector (HPD) projects.

The oral presentation on the PEDRO imaging system was attended by approximately 250 delegates from across the international electronics community.  “It was an ideal opportunity to raise the profile of the work that is being performed in Australia," said Dr Matt Dimmock.  "These conferences are the best way to keep up to date with the latest developments in detector physics and image reconstruction across Europe and the US."
