Project 2.1 Strip detector
The project aims to develop a detector system with increased performance and sensitivity capable of measuring the low gamma ray activity from newly developed radiotracers. The detector will employ advanced photo detection and collimation methods, including the measurement of Compton scattering, to allow excellent energy, position and timing resolution.
At its simplest level, this information can be used to almost completely eliminate scattered radiation thereby yielding a major improvement in signal to noise. However, the true power of this technology is the ability to determine the angle of incidence for incoming photons, so improving the quality of reconstructed images.
